I’m Still Not Sure Which Layout Will Be Best for My Teamĭon’t worry! When you book a team building activity with EML Team our event management consultants will help you to choose a layout that’s perfect for your chosen event. As a rule of thumb if you have a group of 30 ask for a room rated to cabaret for 60 – this will allow you to conduct a meeting without feeling lost in a cavernous room and provide ample floor space for an indoor team build. Cabaret provides tables to sit around and undertake team activities and the tables can be cleared away at lunch time providing a space for a team game. EML always adapts its formats to each space but to give us a fighting chance the best layout for a team build is to ask for cabaret. Most indoor team building activities require a reasonable amount of space. Which is the Best Layout for my Indoor Team Building Activity? A few chairs can liberally be placed around the outer edges of the room, but the primary function of this layout is to keep guests standing and chatting in an informal way. This style is recommended for evening pre dinner drinks or light social sessions where mingling, light chat and networking is the aim. Cocktail LayoutĬocktail layout implies that a few taller cocktail tables are scattered in the room. Again, this layout is not typically used where there is a presenter. This format can be used for up to 20 guests though some consideration should be given to guests hearing one another. The chairs are then placed around the outside. Similar to ‘Boardroom’ the tables are arranged in a square (or rectangle) leaving the centre open. This layout is not typically used where there is a presenter and is often in used in smaller meeting spaces. This is often seen as quite adversarial in nature as all guests are essentially facing one another. ![]() Using a large wide table for typically between 12 and 14 delegates. This layout is useful for 18 to 20 guests where a presenter can easily see and engage with the delegates. ‘U’ shape is as it sounds – a set of 6 foot tables set in the shape of the letter ‘U’, with the open end facing the front of the room with the chairs are placed around the outside of the ‘U’. There are two ways for this to be laid out – either in rows or in a ‘herringbone’ layout which is where the tables are placed at a 35 to 45-degree angle to the front of the room. Generally, venues use 6ft long trestle tables are used and accommodate either 2 or 3 (at a push) delegates per table. Classroom LayoutĬlassroom layout again is as it sounds with each delegate having a table in front of them whilst also being in rows. A central isle is generally preferable to allow easy access for delegates as well as conforming to fire regulations for evacuation purposes. There will be an equal number of chairs in rows facing the front of the room. Theatre style is as it sounds, as if you were in a theatre or cinema. Banquet style is typically used at lunches and dinners, and generally set for 8 to 10 delegates. ![]() ![]() Banqueting Layoutīanquet style is similar to Cabaret style but there are simply more chairs evenly placed around the round 6 or 7 foot table. Guests will have a clear view of the presenter and any materials being shown on the screen in front of them. Cabaret is a good format to use when presenters require guests to make notes and they need to interact with the audience. ![]() Cabaret layout will be a 6 or 7 foot round table with 6 or 7 chairs just to one side of the table facing forward. 8 Common Room Layouts for Team BuildingĬabaret style uses more space per guest than any other room layout. This quick guide will help you choose the best room layout to make your team building event a success. When speaking to clients and booking venues, there is always a moment when we need to confirm the room layout for the team building session.

![]() Marvel's Midnight Suns Developer: Firaxis Gamesīestest Best badgewearer Marvel’s Midnight Suns loses none of its charm on the Steam Deck. ![]() Performance is good too: not quite a solid 60fps, but consistently about 47-50fps. Originally launched for the ill-fated Stadia before finding sanctuary on PC, Wavetale incidentally benefits from the Stadia controller inputs effectively matching the Deck’s, so it feels like it was meant to be here all along. It’s a blast, especially once you also get the hang of chaining together jumps and hookshot moves to navigate the flooded world even faster. ![]() An emotive platformer at its core, the greatest joy in Wavetale is catching a ride on your movement-mimicking merperson friend to zip across the rolling ocean. Wavetale runs as smoothly on the Steam Deck as your character does on water. Wavetale Developer: Thunderful Development There’s some very occasional stuttering but that’s present on high-end desktop PCs as well, and if you simply lower the Effects quality setting from High to Medium, you shouldn’t drop below 30fps. This translates perfectly to the Steam Deck’s controls, and despite being a bit of a looker, Stray avoids any serious performance issues on the portable hardware. Stray shakes off notions of merely being a haha-funny-cat novelty game with some stellar worldbuilding and intuitive puzzle-platforming, helped along by a sleek context-sensitive traversal style. That it’s more or less a perfect match for the Steam Deck thus makes me one very happy wannabe rockstar indeed. I’d happily recommend Tango Gameworks’ surprise rhythm action/hack-and-slash/platformer hybrid regardless of what you play it on: it’s a funny and satisfying brawler with some creative boss fights, and its final act kicks off with one of the single best combat encounters I’ve played in an action game. That chance becomes a certainty with its easygoing performance, allowing Medium quality to run at a nearly constant 60fps and High quality to rock n’ roll along at 45fps or more. Hi-Fi Rush is the kind of game that plays better on gamepad controls than a mouse and keyboard, so it always had the chance of being a great Steam Deck game. Being a rougelike – mostly – it wouldn’t normally be as suited for short bursts of portable play, say on a bus ride, but the Deck’s quick resume feature lets you take a break whenever and immediately hop back into a run. And it’s just as tense, inventive and witty on the Steam Deck: it runs at a perfect 60fps, and only needs the face buttons and a single thumbstick for its slick, combo-happy combat. Hades claimed, by Advent Calendar rules, RPS GOTY status back in 2020. It doesn’t suck (hahhhhhh) the battery too quickly either: although I haven’t done a full full-to-empty test yet, I’d say you can expect four to five hours of surviving vampires before the Deck runs dry. It only really needs the left thumbstick and an occasional face button for inputs, and the framerate keeps above 40fps even with the most overwhelming of monster crowds, so chalk Vampire Survivors up as another Steam Deck special. Simply moving around and auto-attacking sounds like a dreadfully dull premise but as the XP-unlocked weapon upgrades stack up, and the initial trickles of enemies become screen-filling bullet hell hordes, holding back the tide with time-stopping lasers and weaponised Bibles becomes almost hypnotically compelling. It’s a clever, surprising, and unrelentingly charming introduction to your new gadget, not a mention a reminder that Valve should really make more games.Īt the suggestion of several RPS readers (and with the implicit recommendation of, apparently, scores of other Steam Deck owners), I finally got round to playing Vampire Survivors. It’s essentially a free Steam Deck tutorial, designed to help you get used to the controls layout, but is entertainingly administered through a genuinely funny mini-jaunt through a pre-Portal Aperture Science. The short and sweet Aperture Desk Job isn’t just one of the best games to play on the Steam Deck – it should probably be the first one you try. Just don’t forget to grab one of the best microSD cards for the Steam Deck as well, so you don’t prematurely run out of storage space. Especially if they’re already installed on your main PC, as this means you can use Steam’s recently added local transfers feature to potentially cut down on download times when installing those same games on your handheld. Since the Steam Deck is designed to play most, or at least a good chunk of the games you already own in your Steam library, you may well already have some of these ready to go. ![]() Mesquite wood-grilled and served medium to medium well.Īdd Sautéed Mushrooms & Onions and gravy for a little extra Choice of Honey Mustard, BBQ sauce or House-made Ranch. ![]() The ideas for the series and what it’s supposed to be aren’t exactly fleshed out and the developers are trying some unique ideas to see what sticks and I think Sonic CD is a great example of that. I also have a thing for first “iterations” of games in a series (which is why Sonic 1 is so high up on my list). And people like to bash on the time-travel aspect as not being fully fleshed out or poorly implemented… but Sonic CD is my favorite one to attempt a perfect run because finding a Past post, keeping it, then finding a spot to time travel takes a fair bit of skill and is exhilarating when you pull it off. By law, veterans who are disabled or who served on active duty in the Armed Forces during certain specified time periods or in military campaigns are entitled to preference over others in hiring from competitive lists of eligibles and also in retention during reductions in force. Veterans' preference in its present form comes from the Veterans' Preference Act of 1944, as amended, and is now codified in various provisions of title 5, United States Code. Veterans' preference recognizes the economic loss suffered by citizens who have served their country in uniform, restores veterans to a favorable competitive position for Government employment, and acknowledges the larger obligation owed to disabled veterans. Recognizing their sacrifice, Congress enacted laws to prevent veterans seeking Federal employment from being penalized for their time in military service. This condition was treated with intrastromal corneal ring segment (ICRS) implantation in order to achieve a better control of corneal astigmatism and visual quality in this eye. CASE DESCRIPTION Case 1: Nonprogressive PLKĪ 58-year-old male attended to our ophthalmological center 12 years ago asking for a solution for the very advanced PMD that was present in his left eye (LE). In this case report, we investigate and show the long-term course of two patients developing PLK, with similar clinical manifestations, but different age of presentation and level of ectasia progression over time. 4, 10 Therefore, the natural course of this type of keratoconus should be investigated and characterized in order to identify cases at risk and to define an accurate prognosis of each condition. Pellucid-like keratoconus differs clearly from the typical clinical manifestation of keratoconus, consisting on a well-delimited zone with a high dioptric value surrounded by zones of progressively decreasing corneal power combined with central or paracentral thinning. 7, 9 These cases have been defined in some series as “pellucid-like keratoconus” (PLK), 7 being considered as a different presentation of keratoconus. Those cases presenting a crab claw-like pattern in the anterior corneal topographic map, but without associated peripheral thinning, cannot be diagnosed as true PMD. 7, 8 Additional tools must be used for an adequate diagnosis of PMD, such as slit-lamp examination and pachymetric data, allowing the clinician to identify the position of the point of MCT. ![]() ![]() 6 However, this specific topographic pattern may also be present in keratoconus, easily being misdiagnosed as a true PMD in clinical practice. 4Ĭlassic manifestation of PMD is flattening of the vertical meridian above the thinning band, inducing an area of steepening below this band, an “against-the-rule” astigmatism, 5 and a crab claw-like topographic pattern. 3 Furthermore, PMD seems to progress slower than keratoconus, presenting less visual alteration over time. 1, 2 It is considered as a rare condition 1 and is usually diagnosed in the later decades of life compared to keratoconus. Pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) is a noninflammatory and progressive ectatic corneal disease characterized by a narrow band of corneal thinning 1–2 mm from the limbus (commonly inferior limbus). Keywords: Corneal ectasia, Keratoconus, Keratoconus progression, Pellucid marginal degeneration. The presence of two different conditions in the same patient (case 1) and the progression from inferosuperior asymmetry to the development of a crab claw-pattern (case 2) suggest that PMD, PLK, and keratoconus may be different phenotypic presentations of the same pathophysiological condition. The second case presented was a 19-year-old male without clinical signs of ectasia at baseline that progressed to PLK with evident changes in topographic and pachymetric maps but maintaining the point of minimum corneal thickness (MCT) in the central area. The first case was a 58-year-old male who developed a true pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) in one eye and with a nonprogressive PLK in the other eye. Currently, according to clinical examination, these two cases are diagnosed as pellucid-like keratoconus (PLK). We report the long-term follow-up of two cases of untreated corneal ectasia presenting a crab claw-like sagittal and tangential topographic pattern at baseline, but without peripheral thinning.
